Privacy Policy
Effective October 2, 2026
WordHinge is a word game published by DKV Games ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information WordHinge collects, why, and the choices you have. We don't sell your information, show ads, or track you across other apps or websites.
Games against the computer
Games against the computer are played entirely on your device. They work without an account and without an internet connection, and nothing about them is sent to us.
Playing online
To play other people, you sign in with Apple and choose a username. We then store:
- Your account: the anonymous identifier Apple gives us for your Apple ID, and the email address Apple shares with us. You can choose to hide your real email from us when you sign in, in which case Apple gives us a private relay address instead.
- Your profile: your username and display name. Your display name is taken from the name Apple shares the first time you sign in, or is your username if Apple doesn't share one. Other signed-in players can see your username, your display name and your overall record (games played, wins, losses and ties).
- Your games: for each online game, the board, the moves, the scores, the result, and your rack of tiles. Only the two players in a game can see its board and moves, and only you can see your own rack.
- Challenges you send and receive, and who you've blocked.
- Reports you make about other players, which we review.
- Notification details: if you allow notifications, a device token that lets us send them to your phone through Apple's push notification service, and which kinds of notification you've switched on or off.
We use this information only to run the game: to let you find and challenge players, play your games, show records and history, send the notifications you've asked for, and keep the game safe.
Who processes it
- Supabase hosts our database and sign-in service. Your online information is stored on Supabase servers in the United States.
- Apple handles Sign in with Apple and delivers push notifications.
Both act only on our instructions, to provide those services.
How long we keep it
We keep your online information while you have an account. When you delete your account (Settings → Delete Account), we delete your profile, sign-in details, challenges, blocks and notification details straight away. Any online game you were still playing ends as a win for your opponent. Reports you filed are kept for safety review, without your name attached. Finished games remain in your opponents' history so their records stay correct, with your name shown as "Deleted player".
Your choices
- Play against the computer without an account.
- Turn notifications on or off by kind in Settings, or all of them in iOS Settings.
- Block players so they can't challenge you, and report players who break the rules.
- Delete your account and online information at any time in Settings.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct it, by emailing support@wordhinge.com.
Children
WordHinge isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
